Housing, Theory and Society

Housing, Theory and Society furthers housing research as an integrated, multidisciplinary field that is theoretically informed and embedded in wider societal issues.

The journal seeks to publish:
1. Papers in which theories developed in the social science disciplines are applied to housing, and which seek to integrate the field of housing with the disciplines so that theories and concepts are used to illuminate some issue or are tested against empirical material.
2. Papers which make conceptual links to other applied substantive fields of social research, such as education, employment, gender, health and the environment, reflecting on their relationship to housing.
3. Papers which show the interactive nature of housing policy and other areas of welfare provision such as health, social security, education and provision for the elderly, as well as newer developments such as gender issues and the environment and that show the relationship between policy fields.
4. Papers which relate housing to the structure and organisation of welfare provision, and that seek to increase aware-ness of the significance of housing in the complex system of welfare delivery.
5. Papers which develop epistemological or methodological grounds of knowledge and methods in housing research.
6. Papers which conduct systematic and theoretically informed comparative studies of housing, conceptually refine approaches to differences between housing systems or develop new comparative methodologies.
